Tissue Filler Therapy Q & A's

When you arrive at our Kelowna clinic, your healthcare provider will take a health history including any allergies, medications or known sensitivities.  She will then examine your face and assess the depth of wrinkles and folds to determine your specific needs. Usually a topical anaesthesia will be applied to the treatment area after it is cleansed.  The provider will swab the area with alcohol or other antiseptic prior to injecting the gel gently under the skin,  in the area previously decided upon.

You will see an immediate improvement that will last from 6 months to a year or longer.  Results can vary and supplemental treatments may be required to achieve the desired look.

There is minimal down time and most patients return to their normal activities right away.  Some bruising may occur and slight swelling in the treatment area.  It is best to avoid strenuous exercise, alcololic beverages, and extended exposure to the sun, heat or freezing temperatures for the first 24 hours.

Most side effects are mild to moderate in nature and can last approximately 7 days in duration.  The most common side effects may be redness, tenderness, firmness, swelling, minor lumps, bruising and itching.
